John D. Davis, IV, MD
After rotating on several surgical specialty services, Dr. Davis was drawn to neurosurgery because it combined definitive structural solutions with the complexity and delicate nature of the nervous system. He has over 25 years of experience in neurosurgery in the Jackson, MS metro area. Dr. Davis sees patients from five states with all manner of spine disorders, with an emphasis on the evaluation and surgical management of nerve root compression (pinched nerves) or spinal cord compression in the cervical spine (neck). He enjoys the immediate and dramatic relief of pain and restoration of function that patients so often experience, allowing their return to normal life activities.
While Dr. Davis’ clinical interests and research from his residency years centered around the management of cervical spine problems, almost half of his practice is in the treatment of lower back or lumbar spine problems.
Dr. Davis was born in Starkville, Mississippi, and has spent most of his life calling Mississippi home. He attended primary and secondary schools in the Jackson area, his college years at Mississippi State University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in Biological Engineering. This was followed by both medical school and residency at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he served for one year as an Instructor in Department of Neurosurgery.
Dr. Davis then returned home to Mississippi, joining Dr. Lynn Stringer, another founding member of NewSouth NeuroSpine, in private practice.
